Breakthrough Prayer Prayer for Breakthrough – Part 2

‘The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.’ James 5:16b NIV

‘Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.’ James 5:17-18 NIV

‘And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

“Go and look towards the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.” The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”

So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’” Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on…’ 1 Kings 18:41-45 NIV

1.PRAY BIG

‘Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.’ Matthew 6:10-11 NIV

2.PRAY BOLD

3.PRAY STRONG

‘Then he cried out to the Lord…Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!” The Lord heard Elijah's cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.’ 1 Kings 17:20-22 NIV

‘During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears…and he was heard because of his reverent submission.’ Hebrews 5:7 NIV

‘In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness…’ Romans 8:26 NIV

‘…We do not know what we ought to pray…’ Romans 8:26 NIV

‘…but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express…the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.’ Romans 8:26-27 NIV

4.PRAY LONG

‘And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind always keep on praying for all the saints.’ Ephesians 6:18 NIV
