Basketball National Curriculum Attainment Level 3 I can perform some of the basic skills. I can use the chest and bounce pass efficiently I can dribble the ball with my stronger hand, but it sometimes gets away from me. I know when to defend and when to attack. I have some idea of the defensive and attacking positions. I can identify some of the strengths and weaknesses in my performance. I know that exercise is important for a healthy lifestyle. I can follow a warm up and cool down safely using suitable activities.

Basketball National Curriculum Attainment Level 4 I have some knowledge of basic team tactics. I am reasonably competent in one element of basketball. I am able to pass the ball and move into space to retrieve it. I know when to pass, when to dribble and when to shoot. I know the basic rules of basketball. I can contribute to the game although it may be rather minimal. I can use some of the correct technique terms to improve performance. I understand that exercise is important for a healthy lifestyle. I can follow a warm up and cool down safely using suitable activities by myself.

Basketball National Curriculum Attainment Level 5 I can pass the ball with accuracy to other teammates using more than one type of pass whilst on the move. I can demonstrate the ability to dribble successfully with my stronger hand, and reasonably well with my weaker hand. I can perform lay ups from both sides of the basket. I can demonstrate the correct techniques in defending and attacking. I have some understanding of team tactics. I want to have a positive effect on the game. I can encourage and suggest improvements for my team. I can identify strengths and weaknesses of mine and others performances, giving feedback to improve on this. I can lead a warm up and cool down session. I can explain why exercise is important to my health and fitness.

Basketball National Curriculum Attainment Level 6 When attacking, I can demonstrate good technique when dribbling as well as the ability to deceive a defender by scoring a basket. I am able to display reliability while defending the ball, coupled with good awareness of my opponent driving towards the basket. I know the role of and can play in more than one position, specialising either as a point guard, centre or power forward. I am able to play in different types of defense as a team member. I can assist my teams performance through verbal commands and communications. I can give more detailed feedback to improve performance and analyse. I am able to lead a safe warm up and cool down, stretching the correct areas of the body for basketball. I understand how basketball can benefit a person’s health and fitness.

Basketball National Curriculum Attainment Level 7 I have a very high level of individual skill in at least two of the three aspects – dribbling, defending and attacking. I can show a high level of attacking proficiency using shooting and lay ups to good effect. I know the rules of basketball and rarely make mistakes. I am able to officiate my peers basketball matches I can make an outstanding contribution to the game. I have very good knowledge of team tactics and positional play. I know which of the major muscles to stretch for basketball I understand why we warm up and cool down. I can describe how basketball benefits health and fitness and can share this in formation with a small group.
