M ICHIGAN T EST FOR T EACHER C ERTIFICATION (MTTC) B ASIC S KILLS T EST The only test you want is called the Basic Skills Test Basic Skills Test – test number 096 Reading Writing Math Have official scores sent to MSU Last test date to take it is Nov 10 Late Registration Deadline is Oct 5 pm Test Fee $48 + Late Registration Fee $30 = $78

C ONVICTION D ISCLOSURE 6 Students must submit a Conviction Disclosure Form (CDF) Prior to admission to the TE program Prior to internship placement Prior to initial certification After admission students are obligated to report subsequent convictions to COE Certification Officer within 5 business days and provide court documents May be denied admission, field placement or recommendation for certification because of a conviction for a misdemeanor or felony Failure to report a conviction or falsification could result in dismissal from the TE program ICHAT Search (Internet Criminal History Access Tool) Internet search for criminal history Required for TE 301, 302, Students, interns and teacher certification candidates are obligated to report convictions to the Certification Officer. Failure to disclose conviction history is falsification! A conviction does not disappear from your record!

T IMED & P ROCTORED E SSAY Register at end of online application $20.00 payment required at time of scheduling Will receive confirmation of date, time and location PRINT and KEEP the confirmation Once you have written the essay your online application will be closed You will be given 1 hour to complete the essay Software used to detect cheating is applied to all essays

A CCELERATION G RIDS F OR A PPLICANTS WITH J UNIOR S TANDING ONLY Applicants who have earned 56 or more credits before the beginning of Fall Semester 2012 Plan to graduate & meet internship requirements by Spring or Summer 2014 Must complete an Elementary or Secondary Acceleration Grid Acceleration Grids must be signed by you and your major advisor Acceleration Grids are due to 134 Erickson Hall by Nov 28 You will not be eligible to accelerate your program if you do not submit a grid before the deadline
P RE -A DMISSION E XPERIENCE No documented experience necessary Experiences working with kids helpful for essay and short answer questions Tutoring Camp counseling Service learning Coaching Etc. 42 hours of documented supervised experiences with special needs kids Documentation due the first week of Spring Semester 2013 Only students who have completed the required experience will be considered for admission to Special Education Elementary & SecondarySpecial Education Majors
S UPPLEMENTAL A PPLICATION FOR E LEMENTARY M ATH T EACHING M AJOR The Elementary Math Teaching Major is limited and requires a special application Must complete the Supplemental App and submit it to 134 Erickson Hall by Wed, Nov 5 pm Applicants that don’t submit the Supplemental App CANNOT be considered for admission to the elementary math teaching major You can be admitted to the College of Education even if you are not admitted to the elementary math teaching major You will be notified about your admission to the elementary math teaching major by Jan 11, 2013
