Structures & Strategies – week 7

Question Describe a situation where your chosen structure or strategy (Fast Break – Option A, B or C) was not effective and give reasons why.

Identifying Strengths & Weaknesses The success of any strategy will depend upon the effective performance of individuals. Give examples of individual performance within the Fast Break. Describe what the role of a Centre and a Guard is within the Fast Break.

To be a successful Basketball player, you must… …possess the technical skills necessary to play a particular position effectively. …possess appropriate physical and mental skills to meet specific positional responsibilities. …demonstrate good teamwork and recognise how your role relates to your team mates. … perform in both offence and defence and work co- operatively to ensure the team’s strategy is effective.

Question Discuss your own individual strengths and weaknesses when performing the Fast Break. Use your data collection sheets to discuss 2 potential strengths and 1 weakness of you Fast Break performance.

What’s next…. Miss Steele’s Homework Over the October Break I will analyse both the Higher & Int 2, Initial and Focussed Data Collections (like you have done for yourself, I will do on mass). By doing this I hope to find 1 or 2 common weaknesses for all, which we can then work on & develop to improve as a class within our Training Programme through October and November.

Your Homework – Monday 24/10/11 Complete both parts of homework question 5 from the Course Outline Sheets.
