As children we were disciplined, Heb. 12:10 As we grew older we learned self-discipline, 1 Cor. 9:24-27 Our heavenly Father disciplines us for our spiritual profit, Heb. 12:10 God’s discipline is part of our daily life We either endure it (accept it) and are trained by it, Heb. 12:7, 11 Or we refuse it and harden ourselves in rebellion against God, Acts 7:51 2

We are His children and He loves us, Heb. 12:5-6 A father’s love, Heb. 12:7; Prov. 13:24 A father wants and works to help his children walk in truth, Eph. 6:4; 3 Jno. 4; Prov. 23:13-18 Because He receives us, Heb. 12:6 For our profit: Holy and righteous, Heb. 12: (2 Pet. 1:4) Instructive, corrective and at times, painful, Heb. 12:11 3
