Time Management “Time Is On My Side” Presented By: Caroline Keel

Foundation

Philosophy I believe being able to successfully manage time helps students achieve goals not only within themselves, but also goals and standards schools have set for these students. “The achievement of these students in school implies that these homework management strategies may have the potential to help students become more effective learners in general, not just help them complete homework assignments responsibly (Xu, J. 2009).”

Students who were able to manage their time well achieved both social and academic success. (Witkow, M.R. 2009).

A study done by Duckworth and Seligman on eighth grades students and their IQ’s versus their self-discipline to study; founded that students who took the time to study faired better over the course of the school year than the students who initially had higher IQ’s (2004).

Mission Statement School Uses best practices to educate each student in a progressive, creative, safe, and healthy environment. The promote the development of respectful and responsible citizens who will be productive in a global society. Overview of Sessions There will be 2 class presentations in a 3 weeks period. 1 st week: Time Is On My Side Presentation 3 rd week: Review Over Time Budget Sheet and Discussion

Lesson Plan

Individual Planning with Students If any student is not showing progress in reducing attendance record, not completing assignments on time, and/or not turning assignments in on time after two weeks from when the presentation was presented; then the student will be referred to a small group. The small group is called Tackling Time Management and is held during lunch every other week for 30 to 45 minutes and last a full 9 week grading period.

System Support Teachers and Administration

Management Systems

Data! Pre/Post Test This data will show if students began turning in assignments in on time, going to classes on time, and organize their time more effectively from the first class discussion. Attendance Records SpreadsheetsGrades Professional School Counselor and Teachers will review grades and see which student's need improvement on schoolwork based on lack of time management skills.

Closing the GAP The data is not only going to be used to help find individual students who need more assistance with time management skills but also help the professional school counselor improve the lesson plan.

Accountability

Results Report After reviewing the data there will be eight students that will meet together with the professional school counselor for thirty to forty-five minutes during their lunch hour every other week. These students will learn several major aspects of time management. The students will also meet with the professional school counselor individually every week to set their personal goals.
