UC Berkeley Extension Overview UC Berkeley Extension is the continuing education branch of the UC Berkeley campus. Extension offers courses and certificate programs primarily for professionals: Preparing for a career change Enhancing their existing careers Committed to professional development & growth * Certificate programs are reviewed and approved by the main UC Berkeley campus

Program Offerings International Diploma Programs (IDPs) 4, 8, or 12 month intensive certificates in business 2-month summer intensive certificate in Management & Leadership Evening Certificate Program (ECP) Certificates offered in the evening; 1-3 years to complete

About the International Diploma Programs Advanced study for post-baccalaureate students Comprehensive business training Certificate programs are non-degree professional study programs that combine practical training with academic theory

Benefits to joining an IDP Students receive practical, hands-on training that they can quickly apply in the workforce Acquire knowledge of best practices in the U.S. and around the world Complete a specialized program in less time than an M.B.A

Program Options The IDP 4 months IDP plus Internship 8 months Programs begin in January, May, and September The IDP 4 months IDP plus Internship 8 months Management and Business Track (MBT) 12 months * The 2-month Certificate in Management & Leadership is only offered in the summer (June-August)

IDP Student Home Countries Plus: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Ireland, Poland, Peru, Russia, Taiwan, Vietnam, and others…

Evening Certificate Program (ECP) Post-Baccalaureate Studies Students study alongside domestic students Students build their full-time class schedule with the help of student advisors Convenient Extension locations around the San Francisco Bay Area Courses are usually in the evening and on weekends Studies begin in the spring or fall term; courses are offered throughout the year Most programs can be completed in approximately one year (some require study over a longer period of time)

IDP vs. ECP IDP program intensive; prescribed curriculum; short format; 100% international cohorts Daytime programs (no evenings or weekends) Internship is an option of study after an IDP Evening program Completed over longer period of time; courses are selected with advisors; students are not in cohorts (cert completed in 1-3 years) Evening and weekend courses Internship not an option of study

Instructors academic and professional experience similar in most cases IDP and ECP Courses follow the same academic standards - same quality and just as rigorous Instructors academic and professional experience similar in most cases (*IDP instructors required to have international experience)

Program Requirements Conferred bachelor's degree from an accredited university Record of above-average academic achievement (original transcripts) Language proficiency Work experience required (min 1-2 years)

Specialized Student Support International Student Services (ISAS) and IDP staff are dedicated to assisting students with: Housing Student visa documents Health insurance Academic advising, etc

Facilities / Services Modern, state-of-the-art smart classrooms Free Wi-Fi access at GBB (IDP classrooms) Lounge and computer space for international students Tutor referrals 1:1 advising as needed

Working with ESL partners UCB Extension support agreements with ESL schools We provide conditional acceptance to students wishing to start their studies in the U.S. in a language school program before joining IDP or ECP
