Wind Energy Zach DeBiase

How and where is the US generating wind power? Thousands of homeowners across the country are using a Bergey wind turbine to drastically cut their electric bills. At the end of 2010, the installed capacity of wind power in the United States was just over 40,000 megawats (MW),making it second in the world behind China. Wind power accounts for about 3% of the electricity generated in the United States.

A total of 37 states now have installed at least some utility-scale wind power. Texas, with 9,728 MW of capacity, has the most installed wind power capacity of any U.S. state, followed by Iowa with 3,670 MW. The Roscoe Wind Farm (780 MW) in Texas is the world's largest wind farm.

UK At the start of 2011, the installed capacity of wind power in the United Kingdom was over 5.2 gigawatts (GW)(1 GW = 1000 MW) and the UK is ranked as the world’s eighth largest producer of wind power.
