Daniel Harrast The man from Florida Who makes the best sub Loves to reads books The only sport to him is soccer The person I go to because he is smart And best of all………….he’s a Mormon! The definitions of poetry is too hard to understand All of us don’t believe in one Not even by a show of hands There are lots, you know is true But here’s my definition Which I think is strong and true A poem is strong, descriptive, and you It can show how you feel ON certain things, like YOU It has imagery, onomatopoeia, metaphor, and simile White as a cloud, a simile would say From “Hey!” to “Boohoo!” is all you have to say Just take a paper and think of something new For you have a poem That is right for YOU! -Justin Mitchell-

My Death The best year of my life I was twenty-one years old when I died I was with my best friend, Daniel Harrast We were walking home from our home basketball game We won that night, 96 to 84 We cut through an alley to go to my house Out of nowhere Katy Perry comes out in front of us We were scared and started running away Scared and worried, Daniel pulled out a gun Took a shot and missed That was the last bullet Katy Perry pulls out her gun and shoots us We fall flat on the ground Our young lives our over

Justin jumped into the jaguar’s jelly bean jar. Jabbed a Jack-o’-lantern juice into a jam jar. Jumped in his jeans when he met a Jay named Joey. Flied in a jet with a jellyfish. And bought jewelry in the jungle. Justin met Jasper in Jacksonville. He is always a joker with the jury. Justin plays jazz with a jerk. Justin loves to jack jackknifes.

Snow Days When students bed on a cold winters night And hoping snow will fall tonight And Jim looks out the window, all is right And “hip hip hooray” all that night When school is closed, for all is white They scream and fight and have snowball fights “Ahhhhhh!” snowball in the face A merry day, While they dip their heads in snow all day When all the kids are done that day And I go inside and say “What a day.” And warm hot soup runs through my mouth And I go to bed that very night When snow will come again the next day Then all will be good and will have fun again “Ahhhhhh!” snowball in the face A merry day, While they dip their heads in snow all day

I live in a nice warm bed to sleep at night Humans come and love to pet me When white stuff comes down I love to roll and play When I catch a toy I bite it and it squeals I bring it back to go again Blankets are all around the house So I can lay and sleep all day They call me Taja They love me so When they rub my belly it feels so good When dinner comes It ’ s gone in a flash And watch my owners eat too When some fall I snatch it up When springtime comes I love the pool I walk around and lay in the sun Roll in the green grass And let my coat shine, shiny blonde I lick the cement It taste really good I stay in my bed for a very long time They come for me but then they leave I am not sure why but when the time comes They will be back and the days will start over And the fun will begin again When the humans play with me once again

The championship game Tonight it’s here The Lions and Eagles Fight it out And go Crack! all about Bing! goes the quarterback Sacked from behind Ooooo’s! and Aaaaah’s! come from the crowd For hope their team can bring back the win For the game will end With all the Pop’s! and Bam’s! All through the game The players go Boom! and Boosh! While hitting each other For one is champion After tonight A tough, tough game But, all in the end One is crowned champion That very night

She swings her knife to the rope in her polka dotted dress The rope is cut with her knife and she’s just a bloody mess! She takes the gun in hand and shoots the guard at the door The war is over at midnight The highwayman is free at midnight They escape all the way to the sea shore

On Turning Thirteen The whole idea of turning thirteen The big “teenager” talks From mom and dad I’ll never go back that road Where having imaginary friends And learning how to ride my bike I’m growing up I’m feeling bigger every day My parents can’t stop me I’m growing everyday World, I’m ready! I’m coming up to bat Throw my costumes away No more diapers for me Timeouts no more Rock out on IPod’s Driver’s license this way My dad wants me to stop Something better than ice cream At the shop when I was four Stuffed animals fly away! Just no more Cookies and milk Sleepovers with friends Fed by parents All no more I’m a big boy now Rocking the polo’s Wearing skinny jeans I’m on top of the world When I turn thirteen

When the package of seeds came that day All that Ernie had to say “What a girl!” he said in praise Ernie just didn’t want to say Ernie loves Dolores As he sings in chorus Ernie loves the flowers O, how he wants them to flourish Zinnias, cornflowers, Marigolds and asters Nasturtiums and four-o’clocks All he wants to give To Dolores to show

Continued….. How he loves her so The white house he goes It’s bad he knows Jack he finds Who will help him show The one he loves With all his care and all his heart He wants to plant flowers And show all his power Ernie loves Dolores They will be as tall as towers Zinnias, cornflowers, Marigolds and asters Nasturtiums and four-o’clocks All he wants to give

To show Dolores How he loves her so The breakfast one day Left the flowers for them to stay Until Dolores picked them up And Ernie would be happy all day When he does it again the next week day The breakfast day Ernie saw Dolores all beautiful to stay The time has come Ernie likes just the way Dolores stands in a pretty way

Charge of the 7 th Grade Down the hall, down the hall Down the hall onward, All in the school of grades Rode the three hundred “Forward the Seventh Grade! Charge for the pucks!” he said: Into the school of grades Rode the three hundred “Forward, the Seventh Grade!” Was there a goal just made? No tho’ the goalie knew There’s not to score on Anne They’re not to score and cry Into the school of grades Rode the three hundred Player to right of them, Player to left of them, Player in front of them Surrond’d and scared Storm’d at with puck and stick Boldly they ran and shot Into the jaws of Blue Into the mouth of lose Rode the three hundred

Flash’d all their weapons bare, Flash’d as they turn’d in air Sabring the goalies there, Charging a team, while All the crowd wonder’d Plunged in the horrible smoke Right thro’ the line they broke; Penguins and Lightning Reel’d from the body-stroke Shatter’d and sunder’d Then they came back, but not, Not the three hundred Player to right of them, Player to left of them, Player behind them
