. Michigan is a state in the United- states. Right now Michigan is going through winter, it is very cold out with snow and ice. People have a candle walk with candles light up the road. In the summer, there is a fair. The tractor pull is a favorite event. One of the great lakes surround the state is Michigan and the name of the state is derived from this lake. Michigan is the only state composed of two separate peninsulas; the lower is nicknamed “The Mitten” because it resembles the palm of a right hand mitten and the other one looks like a dolphin.

Michigan has 3100 miles of shoreline bordering on four of the five Great Lakes. It has over 100 lighthouses, more than any other state.
