Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge VETSPON® Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge VETSPON helps insure positive surgical outcomes by providing an effective, quick and easy to use hemostasis product to stop oozing bleeding during surgical procedures.

Introduction VETSPON® Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge Veterinary exclusive absorbable sponge indicated for hemostasis in surgical procedures when control of bleeding by pressure, ligature or other conventional procedures is ineffective or impractical. VETSPON Absorbable Gelatin Sponges are: Sterile Water-insoluble Malleable VETSPON can be cut to desired size and shape and applied to the bleeding site either dry or saturated with sterile saline.

Hemostasis Benefits of Quick and Effective Hemostasis Minimizes blood loss Allows a dry, clearly visible surgical field Saves valuable surgical and anesthesia time Longer surgery/anesthesia time = increased surgical and post surgical morbidity, longer recovery

Hemostasis Benefits of Quick Hemostasis: Minimizing blood loss – increases the surgical speed decreases anesthetic time and monitoring can improve recovery time for the patient By stopping oozing bleeding, VETSPON® increases the visibility and provides a "clear" area for surgery for the surgeon.

Activity The porosity enables it to absorb 45 times its weight in blood. As it fills with blood the platelets and fibrin collect and form a blood clot. The gelatin sponge has no intrinsic hemostatic action. (does not activate clotting cascade)

Indications VERY BROAD INDICATION: VETSPON is a local hemostatic sponge for use in surgical procedures when venous and oozing bleeding occur and where traditional hemostasis is difficult or impractical (except urologic and ophthalmic procedures). VETSPON can be used dry or moistened with sterile saline. It can be cut into the desired shape and size. Some contra-indications, warnings and precautions do exist – please see the IFU (Instructions For Use) for further information. VETSPON is absorbed in 4-6 weeks.

Sizes VETSPON® Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge VETSPON is supplied in two forms: VETSPON Dental Cube: box of 16 units (each 1 x 1 x 1 cm) VETSPON Flex Sheet: box of 6 units (each 2 cm x 6 cm x 0.7cm)

Market Research VETSPON® Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge In a recent usage trial among veterinarians*, VETSPON outperformed other absorbable hemostasis products in terms of: efficacy/speed of stopping the bleeding ease of handling product size *VETSPON In-Clinic Evaluation Study, Forward Research, July, 2005.

Summary VETSPON is the effective, quick and easy to use method of achieving hemostasis during surgery. VETSPON is an absorbable gelatin sponge manufactured exclusively for the veterinary market. In a recent survey among veterinarians*, VETSPON outperformed other absorbable hemostasis products in terms of efficacy/speed of stopping the bleeding, ease of handling and product size. VETSPON can be cut to desired size and shape. VETSPON can be used dry when structure is required, or pre-moistened when a softer, faster absorbing sponge is desired. *VETSPON In-Clinic Evaluation Study, Forward Research, July, 2005.
