Tech Tip Screen Capture What is a screen capture? (AKA screen dump or screen shot) It is when you take a picture of what is displayed on your screen. You are then able to put it onto your clipboard.

When you screen capture, you will use the Print Screen button. It is located on your keyboard to the right of the F12 and near the scroll lock button.

1.On your computer, go to our district’s webpage. Steps to Screen Capture

2.Push the Screen Print button. You didn’t see anything happen… but it did. You just captured a picture of your screen. Steps to Screen Capture

3. Open Microsoft Paint. Steps to Screen Capture  Start  Accessories  Paint

Steps to Screen Capture 4. Go to Edit Paste.

Steps to Screen Capture 5. Voila! You will see picture of screen that you captured in Microsoft Paint.

Now you cut a portion of the picture you want to keep and save to new screen in Microsoft Paint for further editing. Save picture. Then you can cut and paste the final picture to a word document, , power point…etc.. It’s that easy! What now?

A Few Uses for Screen Capture  Use in your Portfolio for documentation of a class web page, blog, or website resource.  Screen capture an error code on your computer and send to the tech coach with your questions.  Use in power points or word documents for instructional purposes, as used today in class.
