CQUIN Audit on antibiotic prescription in MAU for UTI- Findings Maylin Oppenheimer & Nivin Rezwan Dr.Ragunathan and Dr.Northfield- clinical lead

Antibiotic given for culture confirmed UTI

Compliance to guidelines for Antibiotic 1

Conclusions  Antibiotics not given to 20% of patients diagnosed with culture positive UTI  The stop date not put on 77% of the drug charts  Almost 1 in 2 patients were given more than 1 antibiotic  Duration of 1 st antibiotic ranged from a stat dose to 11 days (non-compliant)  Regular use of Trimethoprim  Gentamicin given as stat dose and then discontinued.  Antibiotic compliance to guidelines is less than 70%
