TERRORISM IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA By: Jassim Fakhroo

Introduction: Terrorism in General  Terrorism is not new, and even though it has been used since the beginning of recorded history it can be quite hard to describe. Terrorism has been described a lot as both a method, a strategy, a crime and a holy duty.

Introduction: Issue : Terrorism In the USA  The issue we are facing is Terrorism in America  The USA is the most country affected by terrorism in the world. They were mostly affected by terrorism in  Terrorism must be stopped because a country cannot recover from these acts quickly and lots of innocent people die just from political warfare.  Terrorism in America has led them to further wars.  Today there are always risks of future attacks from terrorists, a recent act was the one on Christmas where a hijacker failed to crash into Washington D.C

Definition Of Terrorism in America  The United States Department of Defense defines terrorism as “the calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political or religious.” With this definition, there are three factors in terrorism Violence, fear, and intimidation. Each of these factors produce terror in its victims.

9/11 Attacks  The 9/11 attacks in 2001, is what affected the United States as a whole.  9/11 happened in New York, where two planes crashed into the World Trade Center Towers. After a few hours from the collision the two over a 100 feet long building collapsed to the ground and that resulted in the death of approximately 2973 victims and 19 hijackers or terrorists.  Here is a video of what happened

Movie Of the Terrorist Acts in 9/11/2001

Where it Happened The terrorist attack happened in New York City, in the center of New York on 9/11/2001 in the morning. Two planes crashed into the two buildings. Shortly after the attacks both buildings collapsed. The attacks were located near the Hudson River. New York City is a very crowded city and it is one of the most populated cities in the world. New York is a developed city and it is said the attacks were planned there because New York is a very populated city.

Social Impacts  Socially the 9/11 attacks had a lot of impact.  The attacks made all the Americans stand as one as they all wanted to support their country as well as defending it under any circuminstances. Citizens and the Government stood as one after the attacks. Especially for New Yorkers who solidified and stood together as community to help their nation.  The attacks also weakened the peoples hearts as the attacks put fear into the people mind.

More Social Impacts  The attacks also affected socially as it stopped any ways of transportation and that affected the communication. They stopped transportation because they were afraid of any other attacks that could happen  Also all the schools, building, offices, malls and almost everything closed for a weak or so in New York City which is recognized as “The city that never sleeps”. All of these impacts prohibited people from living their every day lives and it stopped children from going to their schools. This was because it struck fear into the people and the government.

Economic Impacts  The social impacts that were witnessed added more damage to what was already affected in the economy.  Everything was closed for a week in New York. When everything re-opened the stock market fell to the ground. After the attacks the stocks went very low as it affected the economy in the whole of America, Europe and Japan.  The stock market index fell 684 points, or 7.1%, a record-setting one-day point decline.

More Economic Impacts  After the attacks America had to pay billions to re-enforce the damage done.  People after the attacks no longer went to buy things so the sales in New York fell for a period of time.  America went to a war after the attacks against Afghanistan, they were claiming that Al Qaeda were responsible for the attacks,During the war which is still on today, America wasted billions of Dollars to supply their army with the latest Machinery, Weapons and Technology. As well as helping the soldiers and supplying money to nurse the soldiers.  So, this war contributed to a major deficit in the stock market today, as well as it is one of the many reasons that the world is facing a financial crisis today.

After Math: Economic and Social  When America decided to go to war against Al Qaeda they wasted billions of dollars and it also made a major deficit in Americas federal budget.  Because of the war over 50,000 American soldiers died in that war. That made an impact at the society as lots of family lost there loved ones  The American government wasted there money on a war, rather than spending all that money to help the poor people in America today as well as improving there services in some states.

Political Impacts  After the attacks, America went to war with Afghanistan. The reason they went to this war is because they claimed that Al Qaeda were behind the terrorist attacks in 9/11.  The attacks brain washed lots of non- Muslims today into thinking that all Muslims are terrorists.  After the attacks, the world saw the ugly or the other side of Americas face, where they went to Iraq and Afghanistan and they killed everybody and used bombs to kill many innocent people.

Political Impacts  After the attacks there was a lot of racism happening not just from America but from the whole western world towards Muslims. They all claimed that Muslims were terrorists and that they didn’t respect any other religion.  After the attacks, people from America said that Arabs were the same as Al Qaeda and that Arabs were just Muslims who wanted to kill non- Muslims.  These accusations made the Arabian people lose confidence and trust towards America as well as American people lost trust and confidence towards the Arabs.  When America went to war after the attacks, small fractions of terrorists formed, till today these smaller groups of terrorists try to destroy American interests and finances around the world.

Environmental Impacts  The attacks so lots of smoke risen to the air. These smokes increased the pollution in America, people in New York were not getting fresh air for more than a week after the attacks. These smoke also affected global warming and it enhanced in the destruction of the ozone layer.  Another big impact was when America decided to go to war after the attacks, they destroyed many lands and crops in Afghanistan. The bombs and chemical weapons destroyed the soil in parts of Afghanistan. That impact made another impact, where people could no longer grow crops and farmlands as well as animals ate poisoned chemicals and lots of animals died because of the bombings that happened and are still happening today in the Afghani war.  That had a major affect in the environment in America and In other countries.

Solutions  America once said that they are fighting for Democracy. They are not doing that, they are being hypocrites and they are not doing what they are saying. If they do work towards what they are saying we will see a major change in the world and everything will be back to normal.  The problem with America is that they are against Muslims and Arabs. They only take the side of the Israelis. Even if the Israelis are wrong they stick with them. Unless this problem is resolved there will never be peace neither for the Arabs/Muslims or America or who ever is involved.  America should show their ‘Democracy’ to the world if they wanted peace with the alleged terrorist. They should not always stick with Israel. It is not in Americas benefit it is only in Israel's benefit.  To solve all of this nonsense America must only seek peace & not go to a war with other countries like they did with Iraq & Afghanistan

Conclusion  Two airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center Towers in 9/11/2001. That was the biggest terrorist attacks of all time in America and there were 2973 victims  Because of this attack we had impacts on the economy, environment, politics and the Society. Because of these attacks we didn’t only see America get affected, we saw the whole world get affected from the market deficit, and we saw America lose more than people in a war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. All of that for a Terrorist Attack that saw 2973 people die from over 90 nations.
