MATERIALS Two spray bottles Apple cider vinegar Baking soda Water Powdery mildew infected tomato plants

Hi my name is Talia, my partners are Rosie and Sophie. I chose powdery mildew as a greenhouse project. I specifically chose it because one day I saw all this white stuff on a plant. Then, I asked Shakira what it was. She said it was powdery mildew. Next, I started looking for people who were also in the vine crops group. I found Rosie and Sophie and we decided that we were going to do powdery mildew as a greenhouse project. Vine crops are a system in the greenhouse. Vine crops are when there are plants growing on vines. It has tubes that hold the plants and then under that there is a black container that has water, and it is attached to the plants. That is how the plants get water. My hypothesis is, making a solution spray that will disinfect the infected mildew plants in about a week or so. Mildew is a powdery fungus or moss. If it is on one plant and you rip it on the spot with mildew, the mildew will spread to other plants and systems. I think that the apple cider vinegar will work better than the baking soda.

Data and Data Analysis By Rosie, Sophie, and Talia

Over a period of 2-3 weeks we sprayed plants once a day 5 days a week. Our sprays main ingredients for one spray was baking soda and the other was apple cider vinegar.

Apple Cider Vinegar Spray Baking Soda Spray Apple cider vinegar Water Baking soda Water Regular hand soap

Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar

During the spraying process the baking soda solution worked better then the apple cider vinegar spray

After 2-3 weeks of spraying we stopped spraying. 1 week after we saw our results. The apple cider vinegar spray worked better after we stopped spraying!

As a result, if you wanted to use this solution spray, we would recommend apple cider vinegar.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!! This was our observation of the plants we were studying. If you do this at home, do not expect the same results.
