GLAST LAT Projecttitle - MRB 10 Mar 2005 R. BAGAGLI 11 Considerations on tests needed 1.Plyform performs mechanical tests on the laminate, COI perform tests on unidirectional coupons. 2.Plyform has performed for the firs shipment the following tests: Test on prepreg (physical properties), Test on Laminate (mechanical Tests), Process control Tests (Fibr volume, Void Content, SBS). The Tests on Laminate essentially validate the Plyform Process measuring mechanical properties on the Plyform Laminate 3.The Tests on Laminate essentially validate the Plyform Process measuring mechanical properties on the Plyform Laminate 4.The Test on Prepreg is an acceptance test repeated in Plyform to verify the conformance on the COI report, and to explore any issue due to the shipping. 5.The Process Control Test is important for monitoring the repeatbility of the process and the conformance to the process 6.Mechanical Test on the Prepreg are performed per each lot from COI before the delivery: if the prepreg is accepted from plyform by the means of the Test on Prepreg and the Plyform Process is validate and controlled by the means of Process Control Parameters then The Test on Laminate on the second Shipment are redundant.

GLAST LAT Projecttitle - MRB 10 Mar 2005 R. BAGAGLI 12 Corrective actions corrective actions –Rationale The Mechanical Properties Tested in COI (Compression, Tensile, Shear) on The First Shipment and on The Second Shipment are within The Specifications and Similar –Proposal: Dont Perform Mechanical Tests on The Second Shipment –Consideration: Speed Schedule, Save Material –Comment: The Mechanical Tests are redundant –Impact to inventory The Mechanical Tests reduce the amount of material avoid any possibilities of spare Sidewalls
