Girlguiding 1 st Response Refresher Course Introduction

Background It has never been a requirement for Leaders to refresh their 1 st Response certificate. From October 2012 Girlguiding will be introducing a two-hour 1 st Response Refresher course which will be valid for three years.

Details The 1st Response Refresher will not be mandatory for everyone, but it will be a requirement for each unit to have at least one Leader with a valid 1st Response or an equivalent first aid qualification. A Go! report has been developed to help local Commissioners identify units and Leaders in their area who require a refresher course, or will in the near future.

Go! Report The report can be run by any Commissioner. The report details the active units in each level which do not have at least one active adult member with a valid first aid certificate. Each unit can be broken down to see the first aid status of active individuals within it.

Go! Report The report will also show units and individuals whose qualification will expire within the next six months. All first aid certificates, including external qualifications must be recorded on Go! as ‘First Aid’ and are valid for three years. When a refresher is completed, the qualification date on the individual’s Go! record can be extended for a further three years.
