Answers

Using the Number Line As you know (since you were like 6), you can count up and down the number line to add or subtract. +5 We start at 2, move 5 places right and end up at 7. For subtraction, we move left. -2 We start at 10, move 2 places left and end up at 8.

Negative Numbers The same applies for negative values. -5 We start at 2, move 5 places left and end up at We start at 9, move 2 places right and end up at -7.

Positive and Negative Numbers We do however, need to be able to calculate without the number line! Note: Visualise the number line and calculation however you wish!
