James Buchanan: 15th president –Pretty smart guy and hard worker –Democrat –Was he our 1st gay president???? –Failed to unite North and South Supported pro-slavery laws

No Slavery Neither the Whig or Democrat party took a hard enough stand against slavery

Republican Party Abraham Lincoln –Born in log cabin in Kentucky frontier –Spent a year in school –Served 8 years in legislature and one term in Congress –Mad about Kansas-Nebraska Act wants to run for Senate
