What is Alternative Energy? Solar Wind Geothermal

Solar Solar energy is powered by the sun. It is also a renewable source of energy. Solar panels use this energy to create electricity.-

Advantages of Solar Energy No pollution Renewable All purpose : heating, cooking, and lighting.

Disadvantages of Solar Energy If there is no sun on a cloudy day, then there is no power. Solar stations are very expensive.

Wind Wind energy is wind. This is also a renewable source of energy. Wind turbines are used to convert this energy into electricity.-

Turbine

Advantages of Wind Energy No pollution. Renewable. Stations can be made off shore as well as on land.

Disadvantages of Wind Energy If there is no wind then there is no power Turbines are very expensive

Geothermal Geothermal energy is basically the heat from the earth. It is mostly hot rocks under the ground that produce steam that powers turbines that creates electricity.

Advantages of Geothermal Energy If used in the correct way then there is no pollution Stations are self sufficient energy wise The stations do not harm landscape as the stations are very small

Disadvantages of Geothermal Energy If used in the incorrect way then can leave areas polluted as it may release harmful gases Stations are prone to running out of steam
