The Silesian Voivodship is the largest site of industrial heritage monuments in Poland (1621 sites of which 149 were counted among Heritage Buildings Register). This is the most industrialized region of Poland. Industrial heritage is the wealth of the region and an element of regional development policy.

THE INDUSTRIAL HEART OF POLAND BEATS IN SILESIA Industrial monuments reflect uniqueness and cultural identity of Silesia. Important ingredient of our new image and a source of pride. All the hearts and passion put into IMR functioning by the people involved in the project.

Industrial Monuments Route is a theme car tourist route, comprising objects connected with industrial heritage of the Silesian region. The project is brand network tourist product encompassing the most important and most interesting post-industrial objects in the region from the tourism, historical and architectural point of view.

Industrial Monuments Route is an award winning, most interesting route of industrial tourism in Poland. Project realised since Consistency in financing: ca. 2 million Euro form the budget of the Silesian Voivodeship Self-government. Project implemented by means of training and marketing activities. Industrial Monuments Route (IMR) since 2010 is a part of European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). Three out of all IMR sites are the so called anchor points of ERIH, along with such an iconic examples of European Industrial Tourism as Zollverein Coal Mine in Essen or Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Pilzno. Sites which are situated on the Industrial Monuments Route are visited annually by about HALF A MILLION PEOPLE. The turnout varies according to a place.
