Phobias A phobia is a strong, irrational fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. Physical symptoms include: panic and fear, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, trembling, and a strong desire to get away Treatment includes: medicines, therapy or both. Approximately 19.2 million American adults age 18 and over, or about 8.7 percent of people in this age group in a given year, have some type of specific phobia. atch?v=kpVLwD6DlM4
