Anglia Ruskin University European Preparatory Visits Grants Scheme

Introduction to the scheme Terms and conditions/eligibility How do I apply? After submission If I am successful? Any Questions

Introduction to the scheme What is it? - this is a new pilot scheme to allow researchers to apply for a grant up to £1,000 per trip to meet prospective partners for European projects. - You can apply for funding to visit partners in up to two member states, or other countries if they are specified in the tender documents of the fund to which they are applying – The EU-27: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom Why are we doing it? - In order to successfully win EU funds for research we need to forge European links and join consortiums. This fund is to encourage this interaction.

Terms and conditions/Eligibility Your department can apply for one Anglia Ruskin University Preparatory Visit Grant per semester either to visit partners or to attend a Contact Seminar Every application must be made with the intention of preparing and submitting an EU funded project application You can only visit prospective EU partners not UK ones You can visit two partners in one trip, but the £1,000 must cover both trips Joint applications: There can be 2 people on a trip from two departments, but no more unless there is a justified case in the application, however the £1,000 limit will stand if both from the same department This scheme is for new project ideas and cannot be used for existing projects or when a deadline has passed F/T and P/T academic staff and F/T and P/T researchers eligible to apply You MUST apply to travel within the semester you are applying in, or up to 6 weeks on either side

How do I apply? 1.The scheme will open on the 21 st September and HODS will contact staff 2.You need to identify partners you wish to forge links with OR identify a Contact Seminar to attend 3.Speak with your HOD, or attend the meetings organised and seek permission to apply 4.Download the ARU Preparatory Visits Grants application form from the RDCS website and send a signed and completed hard copy to Aimi MacCormac 5.There is no deadline, however the scheme is limited to one academic per department per semester, and the visit must be no later than 6 weeks in the future 6.All applications will undergo an initial eligibility check by RDCS. Eligible applications will then go forward for a quality assessment and will be awarded points based on the purpose, content and relevance of the proposed visit 7.You will be notified of your outcome within four weeks

After Submission - unsuccessful RDCS will provide feedback to all unsuccessful applicants outlining the reasons for the rejection of their application and offer guidance on how to improve their chances of success next time

After Submission - successful If your application is successful, you will need to complete an Internal Transfer form and return the signed copies of your contract. Your grant is subject to approval by International Office upon completion of the OA1 form The cost of your trip will be paid by your department The cost of your trip will be reimbursed to the department upon approval of the Final Report (due one month after you return) Please also enclose all receipts and proof of payment, up to the value of the £1,000. We will keep comprehensive records of your trip, so there is no need for you to store this information
