Construction Cost Estimanting 4003 Cost Estimating/ Engineering Concrete Structures Prepared by: Ebrahim A Alkooheji Instructor: Proff. Locurcio

Problem 5-1 How many cubic yards of concrete are required to construct a: 3000 psi reinforced concrete 100’ x 30’’ x 12’’ 8% Waste

COUNTINUE 1. Convert all units to LFT : 100 ft 30’’/12= 2.5 ft 12’’/12= 1 ft 2. Find Volume: 100’ x 2.5’ x 1’= 250 CF 3. Convert to cy: 250/27= 9.25 CF

Countinue 4. Add 8% Waste: 9.25 CY x 1+ (8/100)= 9.99 CY = 10 CY

Problem 5-3 Calculate the cost of materials & labor to construct the rebar for the footing in problem 5-1: Rebar #4 Overlap is to be 18’’ Allow 3’’ cover of the rebar at both ends. Each bar is 20’ long Include 6% sales tax on all material

Countinue 5 piece of 20ft + 7ft is required for each span = 6 piece for each span 6 piece #4 rebar x 4 = 24 pieces are required

Continue A #4 rebar weight = 0.668lb/LF Total span = 24 LF each span x 20 LF = 480 LF Total weight = lb/LF x 480 LF = lb Convert lb to Ton for RS-Means: lb/2000= 0.16 Ton

Problem 5-32 Prepare an estimate for the cost of material & labor to construct the continuous footing from the drawings: 4000 psi fiber reinforced structural concrete. Include cost of forms Fiber reinforcing Concrete Placement labor & Equipment Include 10% waste

Figures

Continuous Footing 1. Calculate total LF: 16’ +22’+28’+13’+(28’+12’-16’=24’)+(22’-13’=9’) = 112 LF 2. Find volume: 112 Lf x 2 x 1= 224 CF 3. Convert cf to cy: 224cf/27 = 8.29 = 8.3 CY 4. Add waste: 8.3 x (1+10/100)= = 9.25 CY
