San Diego is a large metropolitan area in Southern California. It is situated near the border with Mexico. A major border gate is located near the Mexican city of Tijuana.

Today San Diego is the site of a major United States Naval Base and Air Station. Historic ships such as the Star of India and the USS Midway can be toured in the harbor.

San Diego was founded by Fr. Junipero Serra, a Franciscan priest who wanted to establish Catholicism in the California Territory. The Presidio is a hilltop location that served as a military outpost and was the site of Fr. Serra's first mission in the area.

Old Town is a preserved section of San Diego that allow visitors to step back into time and learn about the strong Mexican influence that continues to shape San Diego in the 21st Century.

San Diego offers a number of public, scenic beaches overlooking the Pacific Ocean. They offer a great opportunity to relax, hike, or take in the natural beauty of Southern California.

Looking for a place to relax, take in historical sites, or do a little "California Dreamin'"? Consider a trip to beautiful San Diego!
