 Texas Southern University is very proud of it’s band, The Ocean of Soul.  Each spring TSU hosts the Spring Jazz Festival.

Denzel Washington and the cast of The Great Debaters came to Texas Southern before filming to be coached by the legendary Dr. Thomas F. Freeman

The Tiger Walk (affectionately named by alumni, students, and faculty/staff) is the maroon and gray paved center street on campus where most of TSU outdoor social activities are held and students socialize.

Both male and female students at TSU have a wide range of athletic activities to participate in. These include baseball, basketball, football, golf, cross country, volleyball, soccer and track and field. In total, there are seven men’s athletic teams and nine women’s teams.
