What is Mesh Networking Mesh networking has created quite a buzz in the wireless community. It promises self-configuring, multi-hop networking capability that lowers node costs and power consumption, and increases reliability in a real-world noisy environment.
Types of Mesh Networking Mesh networking is typically implemented in two basic modes: infrastructure and/or client meshing. To gain the maximum benefit that meshing can offer, both modes need to be supported simultaneously and seamlessly in a single network. Infrastructure Meshing Client Meshing

Enter Mesh Networking Since we can determine which “nodes” in this network are in range of the other “nodes” in the network, we could build a small table into each of the nodes that may look like this: Node T-1 Entry T-2 Entry T-3 EntryNA64

How to make node tables?? Automatic Network Discovery Logical Network Definition
Motivation For Mesh Networking Provide Improvement in reliability Provide Redundancy Increase Coverage Area
Major Issues in Mesh Networking ??
Topology Management Providing self-configuring mechanisms for highly dynamic mobile wireless nodes Developing a network control organization that efficiently accommodates a large hierarchical network including highly mobile nodes Location Management - Locating and tracking highly mobile nodes in a large network
Routing Mangement Managing routes to/from/through highly mobile nodes in a large network Network will be self configurable, no human intervention needed even in a mobile configuration Unlimited range with repeaters
Route Discovery Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector routing Algo. A B D C E G I H
Source Address Request ID Destination Address Source sequence Dest. Sequence Hop Count Format of Route Request packet Source Address Dest. Address Dest. Sequence Hop Count Life Time Format of ROUTE REPLY packet
So Mesh Networking IS Network Nodes can be Fixed or Mobile Network Size can be from 2 Nodes to unlimited Data can be sensors or anything that needs to be monitored Power can be from batteries or AC mains Network will be self configurable, no human intervention needed even in a mobile configuration Unlimited range with repeaters
