Beginning Hero moved to a new house and found out that she lived in the Murphy diamond mystery house. Mrs. Roth (Hero’s new neighbor) tells her about the mystery in her house. Hero is determined to find the diamond. She meets a boy named Danny. They go to Mrs. Roth’s house everyday to get more info on the diamond.

Middle Danny’s dad is a cop, and his dad helped try to figure out the Murphy mystery. He soon gave up. Hero and Danny took off where Danny’s dad left off. They rode their bikes and went to the police station and found the Murphy mystery file. They got caught and went home. Mrs. Roth told Hero that she had the necklace without the diamond. Hero was determined to find out where the diamond was.
