Today – Wednesday, February 6, 2013  Review 6.3 Worksheet Problems  Learning Target 1: Use Angle-Angle Similarity Theorem to prove two triangles are congruent  Learning Target 2: Use proportions with triangles or parallel lines  Independent practice/ Collect 6.4 HW

WARM UP REVIEW: 6.3 WORKSHEET PROBLEMS FROM HW#4

ANGLE/ANGLE SIMILARITY POSTULATE: If two angles of one triangle are congruent to two angles of another triangle, then the two triangles are similar.

PRACTICE: Determine whether the triangles are similar. If they are, write a similarty statement. Explain your reasoning. Are the triangles similar? YES. Explanation: -Using the triangle sum theorem, we can find the other angles of the triangles. -We find that two angles in both triangle are congruent, so both triangles are similar.

TRIANGLE PROPORTIONALITY THEOREM: If a line parallel to one side of a triangle intersects the other two sides, then it divides the two sides proportionally.

CONVERSE OF THE TRIANGLE PROPORTIONALITY THEOREM: If a line divides two sides of a triangle proportionally, then it is parallel to the third side.

Write a proportion using Triangle Proportionality Theorem Substitute known values Cross Multiply
