Cubism

Origin The invention of Cubism was a joint effort between Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, then residents of Montmartre, Paris. These artists were the movement's main innovators.

Origin (continued) After meeting in October or November 1907, Braque and Picasso, in particular, began working on the development of Cubism in Both artists produced paintings of monochromatic color and complex patterns of faceted form, now called Analytic Cubism.

Braque Georges Braque was born in Argenteuil, Val-d'Oise. He grew up in Le Havre and trained to be a house painter and decorator like his father and grandfather.

Braque (continued) However, he also studied serious painting in the evenings at the École des Beaux-Arts, in Le Havre, from about 1897 to In Paris, he apprenticed with a decorator and was awarded his certificate in 1902.

Picasso Picasso was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. He is one of the most recognized figures in 20th-century art.

Picasso (continued) He is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937), his portrayal of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.

What is Cubism? In cubist artworks, objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstracted form. Instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint.

Cubism With cubism you can have one thing very well recognized but still have the viewer think of there own ideas to go into the painting and having a more personal feel to this piece of work,

Inspiration and my opinion Pablo Picasso was intrigued and inspired by the stark power and simplicity of styles of those foreign cultures. In my opinion Cubism is a creative form of art and fits well in some creations. But in others it does not look like it fits.

How did this art affect the normal art? Cubism changed the way normal artist see the world and how they use the tools they have to make pictures more lively and attractive. But now they can use Cubism which is an effective and creative way to make art more eye catching and exciting. This also promotes imagination by allowing you to practically smash and piece back together anything.

Ex 1 In this picture cubism is used to make it more interesting and fun.

Ex 2 In this example I can not understand what this picture or what it could be.
