Gottlieb Eliel Saarinen (August 20, 1873, Rantasalmi, Finland – July 1, 1950, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, United States) was a Finnish architect who became famous for his art nouveau buildings in the early years of the 20th century. Eliel Saarinen

Walter Adolph Georg Gropius (May 18, 1883 – July 5, 1969) was a German architect and founder of the Bauhaus School who, along with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, is widely regarded as one of the pioneering masters of modern architecture. Walter Gropius

The third place entry was submitted by Walter Gropius, best known as the founder of the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany. His design for the Tribune building shares many of the same attributes as his ironic design for the Bauhaus Building.

Honorable mention went to Alfred T. Fellheimer (March 9, 1875–1959), known as a designer of theaters and railroad stations. His most famous work is the fabulous Cincinatti Union Terminal. Cincinnati Union Terminal Fellheimer's Obelisk

Adolf Loos (10 December 1870 – 23 August 1933) was a Moravian-born Austrian architect. He was influential in European Modern architecture, in his essay Ornament and Crime he repudiated the florid style of the Vienna Secession, the Austrian version of Art Nouveau. Adolf Loos
