Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. Agenda 1. Creating a standards-based grading system Score Group/List Standards Bank Standards 2. System Admin setup 3. Course Set Up for standards-based grading 4. Teacher View: Posting Grades 5. Creating a standards-based report card 6. Generating a standards-based report card

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. 1a. Creating the score group Path: Grading & Standards > Score Group/List Note: The Score Group/List determines what will appear on the Standards Based Report Card. The Score will be next to the standard and the Name will be listed in a Key. If multiple marking systems are used (1-4, S-U) for different standards, create each system as a separate score group

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. 1b. Creating the Standards Banks Path: Grading & Standards > Standards Bank A. New Group  Parent Group  Child Group  Campus recommends creating parent groups by grade level, then child groups by academic area.

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. 1b. Creating the Standards Banks Select a scoring rubric (created in Grading & Standards > Score Group/List) for each Standard Group created.

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. 1c. Creating the Standard(s) New Standard- allows a student to be assessed multiple times for that standard to show growth over time New One-time standard- once the student has mastered the skill, s/he is not re-assessed Standards can only be created once. It is recommended to create different standards per grade and use the grade in the standard name. For example:  [01] Works well in a group  [02] Works well in a group

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. System Admin Set Up A district curve for standards is used to calculate the score a student receives if assignments will be attached to standard tasks in the Lesson Planner/Gradebook and standard scores should be automatically calculated. Note: Teachers may create their own curve if this is allowed by the district. Path: System Admin > Grading & Standards > Curves

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. System Admin Set Up Activate Standards To assign Standards by school, you must select the check boxes for the Parent Groups needed. Path: System Admin > Resources > Resources > School Standards

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. Course Set Up  Standards are added to each course individually.  Standards that are assessed multiple times will have a term mask set for the terms a teacher will be assessing that standard.  One-time standards will have a term mask set for all terms.

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. Scoring Students Grading by Task This method allows a teacher to assess a selected standard for a section Grading by Student Shows all standards and scores for the selected student.

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. Standards-Based Gradebook Path: Instruction > Lesson Planner All standards (and grading tasks) assigned to the course will show in the Lesson Planner. Teachers may create groups and link assignments to these tasks to assist in determining an overall score for the Standard if desired.

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. Standards-Based Gradebook Gradebook view Teachers may assess Standards when the Active term mask is on by: 1.Selecting the task 2. Right-clicking in the yellow area 3. Clicking on ‘Post Grades’ Note: A teacher may not add comments to the report card here. The teacher could post the scores here and then go to Grading by Task to enter the comments.

Copyright © 2006, Infinite Campus, Inc. All rights reserved. Review 1. What is the difference between a one-time standard and a standard in Campus? 2. What set up must be done to make sure a teacher is able to assess a standard? 3. What are three different ways a teacher may assess a standard? 4. What must be checked on the course tab so that the appropriate teacher’s name appears on a student’s report card?
