feet The normal person will walk a 128,000kms in a life time, that's more than 3 times around the world. Wow that's a long way! Did you know a quarter of all the bodies' bones are in the feet. There are 52 bones in the feet. When walking each time your heel lifts off the ground it forces the toes to carry one half of your body weight.
Feet -2 It’s rare that two feet are exactly the same one is often larger than the other. Around 40 per cent of Australians will experience some form of foot problems in there life.
Did you know? That the cranium protects the brain Bones are mostly made of a mineral called calcium. That the skull protects the sense organs. The deferent's between a compact bone and a spongy bone is they have a different arrangement of bone cells That broken bones grow back together A joint is were two or more bones meet and movement takes place there.
spine Your spine lets you twist and bend. The spine holds your body upright. Its made of 26 bones in all. You should reach around to the centre of your back and you will feel its bumps under your fingers.
arm The arm is made from three long bones, linked by a joint that is like a hinge at the elbow. The two bones of the lower arm are the ulna and radius.
hands One fourth of athletic injuries involve the hand and wrist and around those places. Children under the age of six are at the highest risk for crushing or burning injuries of the hand. Two thirds of upper extremity injuries occur to individual people in there working years.
Rib cage The rib cage is made of bone and cartilage. It surrounds most of the lower air ways, like the lungs, and the heart. The space inside the rib cage is called the thoracic cavity.
What is the main function of the skeletal system? The main function of the skeletal system is to Hold your body in place and to keep you standing.
What would happen if the skeletal system didn’t do it’s job? If the skeletal system didn’t do it’s job we would be all floppy and useless.
What do humans need to keep bones healthy? To keep our bones healthy we need calcium and phosphorous you can get calcium and phosphorous from diary products such as milk.
How does healthy food help to keep your bones functioning properly? To help keep your 206 to 300 bones functioning properly you need to eat healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and food with calcium in it.
How does the skeletal system help other body systems? Your bones help your muscles because the muscles pull the bones so you can move.
