Share with EVERYONE!

Ways I Use  Center Rotations (Creating books the students are interested in)  Research Reports (Ocean Animals)  Whole Class Books (OCEAN for Open House)  Published pieces for Writer’s Workshop

Dragon Dictation and Evernote

What is Dragon Dictation and Evernote? Dragon Dictation  Voice recognition  Speak and instantly see your text Evernote  Save your ideas  Take notes  Capture photos  Voice reminders

Ways I Use  Use Dragon to record voice and change into text  Save in Evernote  Have separate notebooks in Evernote for each student

Educreation

What is Educreation? Recordable interactive whiteboard that captures your voice and handwriting to produce amazing video lessons that you can share online. Students and colleagues can replay your lessons in any web browser, or from within the app on their iPads.

Ways I Use  Assessments (Writing Sight Words, kids record themselves as they write the words)  Flipped Lessons  CGI Math-explain your thinking  Writing ANYTHING and recording student or teacher while writing.

Tellagami

What is Tellagami? Tellagami is a mobile app that lets you create and share a quick animated message called a Gami.

Ways I Use  Writing Projects-read or type it into the app and the avatar reads it back.  Read books into the app and it reads it back.  Presenting research, present lessons

QR Codes

What is a QR Code? QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. Now you will see them everywhere from a McDonald’s Happy Meal to a box of nails. The barcode is an optically machine-readable label that is attached to an item and it records information related to that item.

Ways I Use I had fun with these…  Centers/Rotations  Scavenger Hunt  Research Writing Response  Open House “Welcome” After our class Orange Hot Air Balloon field trip, we did a week of “field trip fun zones”. I put QR codes at rotations and the kids scanned them and then wrote information about hot air balloons, then we shared what we learned. They didn’t want to stop.

Hot Air Balloon QR Code Centers

Puppet Pals

What is Puppet Pals? Puppet Pals is a digital puppet theater complete with a large array of characters and backgrounds. This is another creative app that can be used in your classroom in a variety of ways in all curricular areas.

Ways I Use  Creative Writing-I had students write their own fairy/folk tales and then record them.  “Modern” Reader’s Theater  Collaborating on stories together  Present Information

Popplet

What is Popplet? A popplet is a big pinboard that you can put popples onto. It reminds me of a graphic organizer.

Ways I Use  Graphic Organizer  Classify and Categorize  Collaborate on a specific topic  Pre-Writing  Presentation

Sling Note

What is Sling Note? Sling note allows you to open a web browser and a notepad or a calculator side by side. It’s great for gathering research or compiling notes.

Ways I Use  Research  Project Based  Collaborate on a specific topic  Pre-Writing  Note-Taking

Over

What is Over? Over is a fun app that allows students to write text on top of photos.

Ways I Use  Photos and labeling  Create a presentation with historical facts, science facts, etc.

Lifecards

What is Lifecards? With Lifecards you can use up to four of your own photos to design your own imaginative postcard.

Ways I Use  Photos and labeling  Book reports, presentations, organizing thoughts, GATE icons, newsletters to parents.  Create a presentation with historical facts, science facts, etc.

iPads and Writing How will you use them in your classroom?
