“5 Star” Sites

SEN Teacher provides cost-free teaching & learning resources for students with special needs and learning disabilities. Many resources here may also be of use to educators of primary and elementary students. All the resources available or listed here are free for use in schools, colleges and at home.

With most classrooms containing digital projectors, the time is ripe to harness the potential of technology to aid, support and enhance the delivery of the Maths curriculum. To this end, the following sites contain hundreds of very visual activities to support the teaching of mathematics, along with further activities to enhance teaching across a range of other curricular areas. Spend some time investigating these maths activities and decide which are the best 10 items to support your mathematics in the coming year. Be sure to bookmark the sites, so you have details and access in September.

The best teaching resources, homework help and educational websites for use in the classroom. Check out the Interactive Whiteboard Resources section! To get started pick a subject, then an age group from the menu on the left. We've been working hard to feature the best educational resources which work well on interactive whiteboards in the classroom. The resources are organised by subject, age group and category to make them easy for you to find. We are constantly updating the web sites listed here to ensure that they are current.

Several fun online interactive activities here to help you improve your mental maths skills.

Considerable importance is attached to the children achieving and understanding mathematical processes, concepts and skills. A favourable attitude is encouraged by presenting it in an interesting and enjoyable way, allowing the children to actively participate in the learning process, thus creating a sense of achievement and confidence. There is a strong emphasis on the development of mental arithmetic and giving opportunities for pupils to use and apply mathematics in real life situations.

A Maths Dictionary for Kids is an animated, interactive online math dictionary for students which explains over 600 common mathematical terms and math words in simple language.

An excellent collection of resources. Often underrated.

The Primary Professional Development Service (PPDS) operates under the Teacher Education Section of the Department of Education and Science, and its core work is to provide continuing professional development for primary school teachers. The PPDS was established in September 2008, when the former Primary Curriculum Support Programme (PCSP) and School Development Planning Support (SDPS) amalgamated, thus initiating the creation of a single cohesive support service for the primary sector.

What is Toy Theater? Toy Theater is a collection of early learning activities to be used as another tool in the teachers toolbox. An eclectic "Theater" of learning toys, Toy Theater is a safe place to play and learn. Who is Toy Theater aimed at? Toy Theater is aimed at both preschool and primary school age children but is open to people of all ages, even you. Why was Toy Theater created? To create quality learning activities for children, available for free to anyone with access to the internet. Does Toy Theater cost anything? No! Toy Theater is free for everyone. We display ads supplied by Google to generate revenue to support the site.
