UNEMPLOYMENT IN LEDCs Done by Gilliane Ncube

WHAT IS UNEMPLOYMENT Defining unemployment

WHAT IS UNEMPLOYMENT Unemployment rates are higher in LEDCs than in MEDCs due to lack of developments Some rates of unemployment are: Zimbabwe- 80% (Formally unemployed) Spain- India- USA- Pakistan-

THE GOVERNMENT Governments like that of Zimbabwe, which other countries find difficult to work with, can in my opinion be held responsible for the high rates of unemployment. With the increasing population that the country has not bothered to control leaves the ratio of jobs to people very large.

TECHNOLOGY LEDCs in general can not afford the expensive machines that MEDCs are now using instead of employing labourers. However, this lack of developments of technology also increases to the rate of unemployment in a way that jobs could be opened for people to make this machinery, sell it and monitor it.

THE POPULATION The people have failed to communicate in ways that the country’s leaders will hear their cry. Although as individuals who are just citizens, it is difficult to confront and question the ruling party.

WHY LEDCs? The industrial sector of different LEDCs is what judges where the country stands in terms of developing Therefore, with a dilapidated industrial sector, which if efficient would open several job offers for the country’s citizens.

A GLANCE AT MEDCs The population of these countries is affected mainly by the migration when citizens of another country cannot find jobs in their home country. They, however, have a population balance in comparison to the outrageous population growth rates in LEDCs

DIFFERENT FORMS OF UNEMPLOYMENT

PAKISTAN Population growth is not being controlled and therefore the number of jobs are way less than the population searching for a job Once again, we do not hear of any action taken by the government about this matter. China is an example of a positive move taken by the government, controlling the amount of children per couple to one therefore possibly explaining its low rate of unemployment for the country’s citizens.

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT Statistics state that 3 out of 5 unemployed citizens are in their youth ages. Once again we fail to see the government try to have an impact on these rates of unemployment. Youth are not educated enough with some unable to afford the costs of education. This brings us back to the government. They have the power to offer education to all its citizens but for unknown reasons does not seem to be bothered by the high rates of employment.
