Improving our Adventure Education Program Joseph Winkelspecht

Goal:  To improve our Adventure Education program by searching for and acquiring new and better technology.

What technology do we have now?  Petzl Rope  ATC's  Wall mounted climbing panels  Treadwall

Here's some new technology

Bouldering Walls  Ledgewall climbing panels  Purpose: Build off of regular climbing experiences. Requires more body strength and is a better work out then top-roping. Helps students to practice spotting.

Bouldering Wall  $ Panel Price  4' wide x 8' tall panel kit  Use/Value: Bouldering takes climbing to another level. More strength and practice is required. Students can work on solving more problems and improve their spotting skills. 

Gri-Gri 2  Petzl Gri-Gri 2  Purpose: Used for controlling the descent of climbers. Built with an auto-lock system for more safety.

Outward Bound Philadelphia  An organization founded for the continuous involvement in outdoor activities and for adventure programs.  Purpose: Use in planning for trips to adventure programs and useful for lesson planning.

BoulderBoard  Use/Value: Mainly used for improving on specific bouldering techniques. Also it will allow for more students to climb and for them to climb at different skill levels. This will allow students to push their limits by changing the angle and degree of climb.  Price: $899 

Conclusion In order to improve our Adventure Education program we need to improve our technology. The better the technology we have the more students that we can help and encourage to be physically active. With this new technology we can appeal to multiple students and plenty of different skill levels. Not only will this help our Adventure Education program but it will also allow our students to use the equipment for a work out after school or even to create a rock climbing club.
