Leading Vegetable producing Provinces in Iran

Iran at a glance  Area :168 Million Square Kilometers.  Population: 70 Million people  Cultivated Area: 14 MM Ha 8.93% of total area.  Including 83.71% Annual and 16.29% Pennial crops.  Annual crops include 54% irrigated and 46% dry lands and rain-fed cultivation.  Khorasan, Fars & W.Azarbayejan are the main provinces with 11.68, 9.17 & 5.87% respectively make up most cultivated area of Iran.  Total production in annual crops: 44.71MM T  Khoozestan, Khorasan, Fars & Mazandaran with 13.48, 11.23, 8.88 & 5.58% of total production are the leading provinces respectively.

Agriculture In Iran  Wheat & Barley are grown mainly western Iran.  Rice, grown mainly along the Caspian sea.  Pomegranates, Grapes, Figs, Dates and Strawberries are grown in the semi- arid parts of the country.  Citrus crops (Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon,..) in Southern & Northern region.  Vegetable crops (Cucumber, Tomato, Watermelon, Melon, Onion,…. grown in all regions  Industrial Crops such as Sugar beet, Potato, Tobacco, Cotton and Oil Seeds  Cash crops such as Nuts, Pistachios, Saffron, Tea,..  Main provinces for vegetable crops in Iran are: Khorasan (NE), Khouzestan (SW), Fars (S), Kerman (SE), Isfahan,Yazd (C), Tehran (N), Homrmouzgan, Busheher (S), Lorestan (W), Golestan, Mazandaran (N), East & West Azarbaijan (NW),….
