Stone Wall Jackson by Shawn Kamrud
Today was the day Joe was finally going to have the stone wall built. Joe has been wanting to have the stone wall built for a while.
Joe called Jackson’s Construction. Joe and Jackson made a deal on the stone wall.
Stone wall today
Bob, Jackson and Tim came to work on Monday. When they arrived, they realized they had forgotten what tools and supplies they needed to complete the job.
Jackson wrote out a list of all the things they would need. Bob would get the tools. Tim would get the supplies. Jackson would get the stone.
Bob went to the store to buy the tools. Tim went to get the supplies. Jackson would have to talk on the phone to order all the stone.
When they all got back to Joe’s house, they had all the things they needed. The three men started to work to get the job done.
As Bob, Tim, and Jackson worked, Joe could hear the “clang” of the hammer hitting the chisel. Bob unloaded the stone and said, “It weighs a ton!”
Tim would mix the mortar for the stone. Jackson would lay the stone.
The three worked as a team to get the job done. When the walls were all done, they would strike up the wall. * Striking a wall is when you put a concave shape to the mortar joints to prevent water from sitting on top of the brick, block, or stone. *
When the wall was finished, Joe inspected the wall. Jackson told Joe the wall was as strong as an ox. Joe was pleased with the work Jackson did on the wall.
