Activities 2 taskforce meetings (January, March) 1 st meeting (7 th January) – Refined objectives Promote responsible production (eg agrochem) Increase efficiency/effectiveness through cooperation Increase farmers’ profits (  value;  costs) Increase reputation for VN pepper – Financing: all pay the same; IDH co-finance private $ – Members All welcome, including input suppliers, as long as true commitment Strengthening links with VPA and its members is key!

Activities 2 nd meeting (27 th March) – Broad participation MARD: ICD, DCP, DPP Private: 11 companies both international and domestic VPA, IDH – Focus: responsible agrochemical use – Outcomes Need attention by the government and support for a public-led survey of diseases and to find proper treatment Need to develop protocol for sustainable pepper production (DCP) and build farmers’ awareness on responsible agrochemical use (NAEC, VPA…) Need traceability system to separate poor quality pepper

Next steps Recommendations to MARD: – Provide direction to the relevant departments (DCP, DPP, NAEC, NAFIQAD…) – Allocate the necessary resources All (public-private) – Identify additional sources of funds if needed – Contribute to the development of the study (TOR, methodology…) – Support study implementation – Identify better practices – Support dissemination to farmers
