You may change one of them to a subordinate clause if you wish. I love to go to the movies. I like to order a buttery popcorn and Coke before the show begins.

Monday, Sept 9 Learning targets: I can identify independent clauses. I can identify subordinate clauses. I can identify sentence fragments and run on sentences. I can correct run on sentences in one of 5 ways. I was in the middle of a movie when the telephone rang. It was my brother—he was calling to tell me he got a new job. It was really great news because he’d been unemployed for 5 months. He’d been laid off along with 30 others at his company. Fortunately for him, the new job pays better than his old one, and he has more flexible hours. He starts the new job on Monday.
