Sexual violence is a significant problem in the United States. Defined as, sexual activity where consent is not obtained or not given freely. Most victims are female. 5
E motional abuse is defined as a pattern of behavior by parents or caregivers that can seriously interfere with a child's emotional development. Factors that can cause this are: ignoring, rejecting, isolating, exploiting or corrupting, verbally assaulting, terrorizing, neglecting the child. aUTyc2E aUTyc2E 6
Defined as the excessive use of a language to undermine someone's dignity and security through insults or humiliation in a repeated manner. May cause profound and serious psychological injury. Creates emotional pain and mental anguish. Usually one person us blaming, accusing, name calling, and the other is defending and explaining. There are consequences for verbal abuse under the law that can affect a person's right to practice a trade or profession. 7
Spiritual violence occurs when someone uses a persons beliefs yo manipulate, dominate, or control the person. This includes forcing a spiritual religious path or practice on another person. Also not allowing the person go follow his or her preferred spiritual or religious tradition. 8
Occurs when a person is harmed as a result of practices that are part of his or her culture,religion, or tradition. Examples are: seeking divorce, being raped, banishment, murder, infidelity, committing adultery 9

Financial abuse is a common tactic used by abusers to gain power and control in a relationship. The forms of financial abuse may be subtle or overt but in in general, include tactics to limit the partner's access to assets or conceal information and accessibility to the family finances.
Neglect in simple terms is to be uncared for properly. Neglect may lead to both physical and mental abuse. In 2012, 6.3 million children were referred to Child Protective Services In 2012, 3.8 million children were investigated for maltreatment by CPS In 2012, 678,810 children were determined to be victims of abuse or neglect

To abuse someone is to disobey the Ten Commandments; “You shall love thy neighbor as thy self.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church says “"Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being."
For all those affected by violence, let them find the peace of God. We pray to the Lord. For the world, that we may all avoid violence and strive for love, we pray to the Lord.
