Standard – Every employee’s training and development needs are reviewed at least annually and plans established to address any gaps. 5.2 – During the development of the annual budget, consideration is given to including appropriate resources to fund employee training and development.

Standard 5.1 Every employee’s training and development needs are reviewed at least annually and plans established to address any gaps. With your neighbor, discuss: How would you describe your organization’s approach? What types of training you support?

Development The enhancement of skills, knowledge and attitudes that will improve individual performance and contribute to the performance of the organization as well It is a shared responsibility of management and the individual employee

Employers should… Look for learning in everyday activity – examples? Explain the employee development process and work with staff to develop individual plans Develop a good understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities that the org will need in the future – how do you do this?

Employees should… Look for learning in everyday activity – How do you know? How can you encourage it? Identify goals and activities for development and prepare an individual development plan Description of learning activity, goal of learning, expenses and time involved Peers often involved in training, “buddies”, mentors and coaches – formal and informal.
