Rock music today is not what I grew up knowing it to be. When I first started listening to Rock music, there was a big divide between people who listened to Rock compared with people who listened to Rap. Rage Against The Machine was a unique band for being one of the first to mix rap with rock. I feel like this all started with the explosion of the internet, especially e-commerce and Peer-to-Peer sharing software. A big reason for the mixing was simply exposure to other genres. More people had access to more music more quickly, and mixing began, but perhaps not for the best. By: Samuals, A. (2008). Music City Press. Pg. 14.

Rock music is dying, and MTV is killing it. The music that once fueled rebellious teens of the generations before today's is slowly being destroyed by MTV, the station that once helped raise it to a higher status.
