Grammar Skills Nouns That Change Spelling in the Plural

With most nouns you must add s or es to name more than one. You are going to learn about nouns that are spelled differently when they name more than one.

Nouns That Change Spelling in the Plural The woman climbed a mountain. What word would you substitute for the underlined word if you wanted to name more than one? women

Nouns That Change Spelling in the Plural Jamaica saw three (child, children) near the subway station. Jamaica saw three children near the subway station.

Nouns That Change Spelling in the Plural A (man, men) and two (woman, women) stood in line. A man and two women stood in line.

Nouns That Change Spelling in the Plural A (child children) gave a dollar to the woman in the booth. A child gave a dollar to the woman in the booth.
