PRAYER MOVEMENTS & MISSIONS
PRACTICAL SESSION
EVERY STRATEGY IS A FAILED STRATGEY UNTIL ENCASED AND ENSHRINED IN PRAYER
THE WORLD A growing pot of complexities, with ancient and modern cultures and spirits amalgamating and conniving against the Christ life and the Jesus doctrine. DO YOU UNDERSTAND OUR WORLD TODAY?
(IN)TOLERANCE Tolerance is proclaimed by those who want to promote their gospel of diversity while extremist groups keep growing in response to this ‘global acceptance culture’ WHAT HAS MADE TOLERANCE- ‘IN’?
‘CELEBRATE AND ELEVATE THE ESSENCE OF CULTURE’ - Thai Airways Magazine
OUR CONCLUSIONS Cultural revolution & the return of religious fundamentalism is simply a spiritual insurgency using an old language to wage a new war against the Christ- Way.
OUR CONCLUSIONS The world systems are irreconcilably divergent from the Jesus system and the world will increasingly become hostile to the Christ doctrine & followers
OUR CONCLUSIONS These instabilities are opportunities for us to create an impetus for increased prayers for the nations and missions
MY THESIS IS THAT QUANTITY IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS QUALITY OF PRAYERS - Rev 8:3-5; Luke 18:6
PRAYER MOBILIZATION IS SPIRITUAL WARFARE
History abounds with examples of how prayer movements changed societies, cultures and peoples
PRAYER MOBILIZATION SHOULD FOCUS ON CHURCH REVIVAL NOT JUST REACHING UPG’S
CRITICAL QUESTIONS How do we MOBILIZE prayers? Why do prayer movements die prematurely?
PRAY YOURSELF Personally groan for unreached peoples Pray for God to lead you through open doors for catalyze prayer movements
USE CURRENT AFFAIRS Be current & use the language of the times to educate and motivate Use the knowledge of the end-times to draw men to pray
BE ACTIVE IN CHURCH Be involved in a local congregation Turn your church’s small- group into a praying cell
CREATE VIRTUAL MOVEMENTS Social media platforms can create synergies of prayer at almost no cost and minimal effort
TARGET ECUMENICAL GROUPS Seek audience with larger interdenominational bodies to make presentations Look for the ‘man of peace’
SHOW-CASE ‘MISSIONARIES’ Take advantage of the presence of ‘field missionaries’ (or invite them to come) so as to show-case the need for prayers
DEVELOP ROBUST DATABASE An e-list of friends and acquaintances can be a natural channel for regular prayer newsletters
TARGET AFFINITY GROUPS Take specific prayer issues to specific affinity groups e.g. Widows groups, Women fellowships, Children Sunday-schools etc.
RIDE ON POPULAR NEEDS Develop training programs that meet current needs and build-in the prayer challenge into such trainings
SEEK FOR PLATFORM MINISTRY Wherever possible, seek for opportunities to speak from pulpits and other established platforms
WORK THROUGH PASTORS Get close to your pastor friends and use them as your channel to reach out to other members of the clergy
SHORT-TERM TRIPS Use short-term outreach opportunities to reproduce prayer anchors in different churches, cities and fellowships
EXCITE BEFORE YOU BURDEN Share real life testimonies of what God has done on mission fields, before compelling people to join the prayer movement
TRAIN PRAYER MOBILIZERS Share strategies with other intercessors on how to multiply themselves Don’t assume intercessors know how to share on prayer
HINDRANCES TO PRAYER MOVEMENTS Poor feedback mechanisms Poor prayers by mobilizers Impatience by intercessors
