GOAL ONE- ERADICATE EXTREME HUNGER AND POVERTY

- Ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling. GOAL TWO-ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL PRIMARY EDUCATION

- Eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education, preferably by 2005, and in all levels of education no later than GOAL THREE- PROMOTE GENDER EQUALITY AND EMPOWER WOMEN

- Reduce by two-thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under-five mortality rate GOAL FOUR- REDUCE CHILD MORTALITY

- Reduce by three-quarters, between 1990 and 2015, the maternal mortality ratio. - Achieve universal access to reproductive health. GOAL FIVE- IMPROVE MATERNAL HOUSE

- Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS. - Achieve, by 2010, universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for all those who need it. - Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases. Fostering functioning states is essential because appropriate and effective machinery of government is the basis for prosperity. Sound policies and institutions are essential for growth and development. Investing in people (health and education) provides the opportunity for all citizens, especially the poor, to participate in the economy. Health and education enable the poor to participate in growth, make the workforce more productive, and lead to a better informed citizenry able to demand better government performance Regional stability and cooperation is becoming increasingly important in a world in which cooperation between nation states is needed to address trans-boundary threats such as pandemics, disasters and transnational crime. Stability is also needed for countries to benefit from the opportunities offered by economic integration. WHAT AUSTRALIA’S DOING TO ADRESS THE ISSUES…
