CHE by the Numbers There are 248 Catholic degree-granting higher education institutions in the U.S. 229 enroll undergraduate students in programs leading to a bachelor's degree. 11 institutions grant associate degrees. 14 are women's colleges.* *Granting undergraduate degrees only to women; graduate degrees may be granted to both genders.

How Many Graduate Degrees? 210 Catholic universities award graduate degrees: 93 award either a research doctorate or professional doctorate. 19 institutions grant only graduate degrees.

How Many Students? In U.S. higher education… CHE serves approximately 1 million of the 21 million total students. Of those 1 million students, 650,000 are Catholic. Of all 21 million college students, 6.5 million are Catholic..

How Many Graduate? 54.2% of Catholic higher education students complete a bachelor’s degree program in four years (as compared with 39.0% of students enrolled in public institutions) 69.8% of Catholic college students earn a bachelor’s degree in six years (compared with 60.3% of public institution peers) .

Other CHE Facts 28.7% of CHE undergraduate students study abroad, compared with the national average of 9.3%. 50% of ACCU institutions are listed on the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Role. 37.2% of CHE presidents are female, compared with 22.7% at other four-year colleges and universities.
