RIP RIP - Raster Image Processor yProcess of converting pixels into lines of dots at various sizes, and densities for each separate CMYK color for printing. zWhat does a RIP really do? yConverts design into separate CMYK colors yUses halftone screening or diffusion patterns to fool the eye into seeing continuous tones yDirectly drives large format printers
Color gamut zThe gamut of colors each space can reproduce. zVisible gamut is the eye. zVisible > Pantone > RGB > > Hifi > CMYK zThe gamut of colors each space can reproduce. zVisible gamut is the eye. zVisible > Pantone > RGB > > Hifi > CMYK
Rendering Intents zDefines how output / print colors that are outside the color gamut of the printer. yPerceptual yRelative Colorimetric ySaturation ySpot Color
Rendering Intents This intent is best for photographic images. The relationship between colors in original is scaled proportionally to fit the output device’s color gamut.
Rendering Intents Is best for images, such as logos, where the original needs to exactly match the output. Colors that falls outside of printer’s gamut are converted at the edge of the gamut, which may reduce the total numbers of colors available. For this reason, this intent should only be used when there are relatively few colors in an image
Rendering Intents This intent is best for images where true color matching is NOT as important as vivid colors. This intent may be used to boost colors within a photographic image.
Rendering Intents This intent produces the greatest saturation possible, should only be used for NON-photographic images. Examples may include charts and graphs. Spot Color
