Advanced Automotive Grants Macomb Community College  Why is Macomb CC pursuing and winning grants in advanced automotive technology? Jobs, Jobs, Jobs Background  Location in the heart of the US auto industry  Long history of serving auto industry  Increasing petroleum costs and new, strict CAFE standards driving major industry change  Rejuvenation of auto industry will be shaped by advanced propulsion systems, especially hybrids and electric vehicles  Federal and state grant funding available to support skills preparation of the future work force

Advanced Automotive Grants Macomb Community College  Why is Macomb CC pursuing and winning grants in advanced automotive technology? NSF Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT)  One of just forty Advanced Technological Education Centers in the United States and is strategically located on Macomb Community College's (MCC) South Campus, in the heart of the rejuvenated US auto industry  Clearinghouse for Curriculum and Research & Development  Many partners involved including Michigan Academy of Green Mobility Alliance – MAGMA  MAGMA is Industry group of OEMs, Suppliers, Universities and Community Colleges

National STEM Consortium  TAACCCT Round 1 Grant of $19.7 mil awarded to Anne Arundel to develop Career Pathways in STEM Industries - collaboration including 10 community colleges in 9 states  $800K provided to Macomb for development of the EV Development Technician Curricula from Sept through Sept  Working with Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana to share common curriculum components with their EV Service Technician Program  Purpose: Help build a national repository of high-quality technical curricula and materials that can be made available at no charge to all community colleges

STEM Consortium - continued  EV Development Technology Certificate courses piloted  Students going through the program as a cohort  Comprehensive approach focused on assisting students in obtaining employment at program completion  Soft skill training  Internship Coordinator and Intrusive Project Coordinator approach  MAGMA endorsed EV Development Technology Program

Advanced Energy Storage System Initiative - AESSI  Macomb received $550,000 through Michigan Works  Grant Period: July 1, 2012 through September 15, 2015  AESSI is 17 regional organizations to accelerate innovation, business formation and expansion, and job creation in the advanced energy storage sector  Funded by Economic Development Administration, Employment & Training Administration, Small Business Administration  Integrating economic, workforce, and small business development strategies
